The wild wild west, a time of bars, shoot-outs, cowboys, dust, sand, and tumbleweed. Giddy up all along the western front with your trusty six shooter, and bounty huntin' friends as you're out to discover treasure, and hunt those bad guys. John Cooper's your name, you and your gang of Kate, Doc, Name, Pablo, and Name travel from town to town fighting everybody from low-lives to Indian ambushes. The only thing missing is John Wayne and Bruce Willis going "Yippie-Ki-Eh-Mother..." I'll leave the rest to your imagination.
With that, Atari brings the Wild West in Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge back to the PC. Atari has a history of greatness in gaming; honestly who hasn't heard of them? But in case you haven't, here's a small bio:
Desperados 2 is the sequel of the successful wild west title "Desperados - Wanted Dead or Alive".
The gameplay is based on its predecessor but with brand new tactical possibilities in a beautiful 3D environment. The player is able to switch from an isometric view to a third person view whenever he wants, for example for duels, brawls and shoot-outs. There will be a great variety of settings. For example: dusty canyons, ghost towns, Indian villages, and forts create a breathtaking atmosphere.
Take on the role of up to 6 heroes including the famous bounty hunter John Cooper and experience in a thrilling story with surprising turns.
Installation and Package
Desperados came in a delightful sand colored box worthy of being placed upon your mantle. The box art is an excellent depiction of Cooper and his friends, with their pistols drawn. Inside was a nice Atari labeled packaging, preventing box crushing, installation booklet, and a four disc set. The installation booklet was your standard "how to install for the technologically disadvantaged," without any instruction about the characters. Installation went off without a hitch, excluding the multiple disc changes which could have been replaced with a simple DVD. At least the discs are colorful...
