Watch your heads! Kratos is back and boy is he ticked….still. Sony brings us the newest addition to one of the most violent acts of media since the movie 300. There is simply no pleasing some people, and Kratos is pretty much prime example. The man killed Ares, got his revenge, and was made the new god of war, and he’s still unhappy. The game boasts both longer game play and more bosses, but has a problem known as KOTOR syndrome which will be explained later. However that being said, this is one of the best games Sony has given us to date.
Story 7/10
I found God of War 1 to be nearly all game-play with a sprinkling of story. The entire plot was very basic and quite stereotypical for heroic Greek legends. A soldier on the verge of death offers his life to a god to save himself and his army. In return, he is cursed with a nearly endless blinding fury that takes the life of his wife and child. Their ashes, in return for his crimes, are bonded to him to serve as his eternal reminder and torment. God of War II brings you back into the shoes of Kratos who has just filled the position as the new God of War. Using his patron nation of Sparta, Kratos waged a war on all of Greece, which greatly angered the gods.. Finally, the Olympians step in at the battle of Rhodes, forcing Kratos to give up his power in order to save his Spartans from the Colossus. Kratos, being once again completely mortal, is betrayed and killed by Zeus himself. His new adventure is to take revenge on Zeus and all of Olympus. Thus, he allies himself with those greater than the gods: the Titans.
