When we (perhaps some of the readers?) were young in the 80’s, Transformers were one of the big four shows at the time for children. Times have changed and we have gotten older, though some of us still miss those robots in disguise. Michael Bay recently finished the first Transformers movie since the 1986 animated version and this time its live action. So naturally the video game world capitalizes on a cash cow by making it into a video game. Hopefully Transformers made by Activision will turn out better than most games based on movies; then again it could be doomed to a fate worse than Optimus’s death in the original movie.
Story 10/10
Story is a little hard to do since this is based off the movie and I don’t wish to spoil the movie for anyone. The story line for the movie centers on a device known as the All-Spark and a young boy Spike Witwicky. The All-Spark is a source of near infinite energy and life source for the Transformer race. For a while peace ruled through Cybertron but the peace was short lived and a great war broke out over the possession of the All Spark. As a last resort, the Autobots launched it from Cybertron and it landed on Earth. In his mad quest for power, Megatron comes to Earth in search of the All Spark only to be frozen and deactivated by his own greed searching for the lost All-Spark. Fast forward to 2007 and young man spike Witwicky just buys his first car. On a twist of events it turns out to be Autobot scout Bumblebee. From there, this leads Spike on a life and death adventure. The game follows the movie very closely, though there are some differences, like extended time with various characters such as Scorponok. This does add to the story thankfully, because we get to see what some of the bots do while they are not on the big screen.
