Here at GameApex we've had the pleasure of reviewing one of the more successful franchises both in terms of fighting games and the anime genre. I speak of course of Kubo Tite’s hit series Bleach. If you have read the previous reviews written here, you’ll see we hold this franchise in high regard. Its ability to constantly improve upon an already impressive fighting system, continuously update its amazing graphics, and provide unbeatable game play has made this import well worth the money. But now we look at the newest installment to the Bleach franchise. Only this time, this is not the next sequel to the Heat the Soul saga, but the first American Bleach game on the Nintendo Wii brought to us by Sega. The game is entitled Bleach: Shattered Blade. Once again Ichigo and friends are put to the test to see if this new game can capture the same magic as the Heat The Soul series.

Story 8/10

The game is an original story written by Kubo Tite to bridge the manga from the Soul Society arc into the Arrancar arc. The game's story largely centers around the direct aftermath of Aizen's betrayal. With the shattering of the massive Execution blade, the Sokyoku, a great evil is awakening beneath the holy court of the soul reapers. Now the story is fragmented into several stories, all ending with the confrontation of an ancient Arrancar. Each story was handled with care, with everyone having their own purpose for collecting the shards of the Sokyoku. To touch on a few, Ichigo is searching for them so that he and his friends can return to the human world, while Renji is searching for the Shards to ensure that his sword Zabimaru, which was severely damaged in the battles before, won’t disappear. There are about 10 differently stories to play, as some of Bleach's main characters, as well as 2 special people that seeing their first time are included..
